BLAIR FOWLER JUICYSTAR07 FTC AND YOUTUBE VIDEO LAWS
The July issue of Marie Claire magazine (p. 75 in print http://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity-lifestyle/you-tube-haul-vloggers ) has an interesting story by Abigail Pesta about shopaholic vloggers and the emerging YouTube genre of mall-haul videos.
Let’s explore the legal implications, shall we?
Marie Claire says that the fashion and beauty industry is sending “loads of free stuff” to the vloggers in the hopes of getting good reviews. There’s nothing illegal about getting free stuff. But if vloggers do go online singing the praises of their buddy swag-slingers, they’ll need to be upfront about it and disclose the relationship to viewers. Blair Fowler plugged custom-designed footwear from Shoes of Prey. According to Marie Claire, Shoes of Prey got 200,000 visitors to their site after Fowler discussed the brand on her vlog. While I can’t be sure of which video Marie Claire was talking about, the video I watched seemed to introduce Shoes of Prey to Fowler’s viewers. The video was, in my view, entirely on the up and up. Fowler says in the video that Shoes of Prey sent her the shoes and that she has been talking with the firm’s “head honcho.” Fowler does not explicitly say that she received the shoes for free, but the implication is clear.

One reason people are getting fed up with "Blair" is all the lying that has gone on to reach Youtubes #1 beauty Guru.
The name situation. No, Blair isn't the real name of Juicystar07 documents and forms have read that Elizabeth is the actual name of, well, Blair. But nevertheless instead of coming clean or explaining why she doesn't want to give out her real name, she deny's it.
Next its the money issue. Many don't know that Blair and Elles father is a Doctor, and sadly throughout the years Blair has gave herself away about how "well off" she is. Take for example the leather jacket she tweeted and said she really wants to buy. Oh, just a $600 jacket. Or the "Some old black car" that she drives. Oh just a 3series BMW. Now, it's not that her family being wealthy is the problem, it's the "I support my self", "it takes me so long to save up my money for my nice things" front that has people upset.
Lastly many young and older viewers wonder whats in it for them? Why does "Blair" make these videos for us? Possibly the 250 dollar check they get for using a companys brand. Or the 100 a video youtube contract.
